What To Do In Edinburgh
The Caledonian Hilton Edinburgh Hotel is based on one of the historic opening streets of the city’s initial development. It was in the middle of the 18th century that three new roads were built, including Princes Street, around which the rest of the Edinburgh would be based. And so, against this historic backdrop, hotel guests can explore the nearby George Street with its numerous shops, restaurants, bars and selection of statues. They can also soak up some of the culture while knowing this part of the city was among the first parts to be built all those many years ago.
Another of the major streets which is a well-known focal point in the Scottish capital is the Royal Mile with its shops, places to eat, pubs, clubs and prestige. Edinburgh’s castle is one of the city’s most famous sights and attractions; it is a particularly dominating fortress from its position on a hilltop above the old town.
The Palace of Holyrood House is another of the city’s impressive buildings and is the Queen’s official Scottish residence. The venue also has apartments and galleries which are open to the general public when the queen is not at home. The Palace is set at one end of the Royal Mile and was initially used as a monastery when it was constructed in the 12th century.
The Royal Botanic Gardens are ideal for a relaxing walk and are home to all sorts of plants, flowers and trees. The 31 hectare space has rock gardens, ponds and glass houses with 10 different climate zones. Edinburgh Zoo, meanwhile, was opened in 1913 and is set just a short distance from the city centre.
Other places worth a visit during your time in the capital include a venture to Our Dynamic Earth which is a geology, geography, biology, oceanography and astronomy museum. The Arthur’s Seat volcano, meanwhile, rises above the city and enables visitors the chance to get away from the busyness of the city centre.
